How to Fight and Win Over Your Weaker Self
Christmas time with all its treats and cozy atmosphere is very seductive. When it is cold, rainy and windy outside we are more than tempted to stay inside on the couch with chocolates and a bag of chips rather than meeting up for that jog around the Alster.
And why should we not? We have been active and productive the first half the the year so when everybody gets into gingerbread-mood we can treat ourselves with a few relaxing hours too. There is always that one night of the year, after having unwrapped all gifts under the tree, where along with crazy colorful fireworks we send the December-laziness up in the sky to never come back after all.
Because tomorrow, when the fresh and new year starts, we will be even more active and productive (but even more important consequent!) than ever.
And then, after the first week of January has gone by and then the second week, we must realize that the only one who is stronger now is our weaker self.
If it is term papers, physical activities or more frequent phone calls to your grandmother, why is it that now we feel even more unmotivated and uninspired than back in good old 2016? I say it is the weather. Shorter days and less sunlight feel like a little devil on each side of my shoulders whispering in my ears: "Put on sweatpants and watch a movie!"
Even though those whispers are quite powerful, there is one thing that helps everyone fighting and winning over their inner self. Before I reveal this powerful tool of motivation I would like to emphasize the fact, that I am not sponsored in any way. It simply is what works best in any of the prior described scenarios: JUST DO IT!
